Commission Information & Terms:

 General Information:

I am available for commissions at this time. I am able to work in most mediums, but prefer drawing or printmaking mediums over painting mediums, which means I will NOT accept a painting commission under most circumstances. I work most commonly in oil pastel and colored pencil combined on drawing paper, but can work in charcoal, chalk, pastel, graphite, ink, lithography, dry point, solar plate etching, and various other drawing and printmaking media.

How I Price and What to Expect:

Prices vary greatly from artwork to artwork.  A large, highly detailed artwork will be more expensive than a small, less detailed piece due to the difference in amount of time spent on each work, as well as the difference between the amount of supplies used. Price also depends partly upon which medium is used…some mediums are easier to manipulate than others. For example, printmaking processes do not allow for much manipulation after a certain point, and have several different stages and steps, so original prints take longer to complete and are more labor-intensive than usual drawing media such as charcoal or graphite.
I do request part of the payment upfront, this is one-half of the commission price and is used to cover any supply expenses - after the commission is approved as complete, a bill for the remaining cost will be sent to the commissioner and must be paid before the artwork is shipped.  After a down payment is sent and I have begun working on the commission, I will not refund any of that down payment.  The down payment is a commitment on the buyer's part to complete the transaction in full.  You may also opt to pay-in-full before the commission is started, but this won't necessarily guarantee completion of the artwork sooner.  If after the commission is complete, the buyer decides to not pay the remaining portion of the total amount due, I retain the right to sell the original and to make and sell prints of it if I wish.

GENERALLY, oil pastel & colored pencil works can be priced as such:

Other mediums you may choose from:  Charcoal, Soft Pastel, Oil Pastel, Conte Chalk, Graphite Pencil, Ink, Lithography (please check availability), Monoprint or Monotype (please check availability), and Solar Plate Etching (please check availability).  If you have something specific in mind, please feel free to contact me about it.

Considering that I create originals, have school work, other projects, and other commissions going on at the same time, I may or may not be able to accept all commissions through this website.  Any one accepted commission will likely be completed within one month, but depending on size, level of detail, medium, and subject matter it may take up to six months.  Time frames are quoted along with the prices above and allow for a large grace period for me - I am human, after all (or so they say O_o).  Remember that as time goes by, you will be updated periodically and you may request as many updates as you wish.  But, PLEASE: Do not expect to request a 22"x30" highly-detailed commission and receive a finished product within a week.  I am a very meticulous worker, and chances are that I will be pickier about the final product than the commissioner, so please don't expect me to work quickly and carelessly.  Also keep in mind that the sizes indicated above do not take into consideration the 1/4-inch margin needed for mounting the artwork as I draw.

Revisions to the Final Product:

Depending upon the type of medium used, revisions can be made to an extent…some drawing mediums aren't very forgiving and allow for only minor changes.  Please do not change your mind half-way through the commission, as most drawing and printmaking mediums are unable to be changed much, if at all.  It is important to have a fairly good idea of what you want - the more detailed your description is, the better able I am to create the image in your mind.  After the down payment is sent, several sketches and layouts will be sent to the commissioner to get the closest-matching image to the description given.  This is the step where adjustments need to be made!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

I reserve the right to make extra editions in commissions produced with printmaking media due to the extensive labor included in these processes.

I reserve the right to make open edition prints of regular drawing media commissions automatically, unless the commissioner requests otherwise.  If the commissioner does not directly tell me that they wish for a private commission, prints will be made.  If you would like a private commission (as in, I will NOT sell prints, or show images online, etc.) please mention this before sending a payment.  Private commissions will have an increased cost due to the losses from inability to sell prints and/or display for online exposure.  This price increase is a percentage to be determined and is negotiable before any payment is required.

If interested, please contact me at tandoll@gmail.com in order to place your commission request.  Or you may visit my eBay store to see what commissions I have available there.  Please be sure to read through the entire eBay listing description, though...terms are slightly different from what they are on my website as subject, medium, etc. are pre-set, and you may even try submitting a bid on commissions I have listed at auction for a big deal!  If you want to be updated on when I have new items on eBay, be sure to join the mailing list to be one of the first to know.  Thank you for considering me for your custom piece of artwork!
