Without Davey

This series consists of a set of four images depicting a stylized version of myself as a sorrowful faery with broken hearts for wings that goes along with a poem I wrote after my fiancé of five years, David, succumbed to cancer November 4th, 2006. I was uncertain of whether or not I would ever return to my art for months after Davey died, until this poem struck me along with the images that go with each line. Anyone who knew David in real life or over the internet knew him as a fun, silly, outgoing, caring man...he seemed to tremendously impact anyone who he spoke to. He was a story teller, a joke maker, a heart-of-gold biker, a loving teddy bear, and a true friend. I still miss him greatly, and not a day has gone by that I haven't thought about him. I will always love him, and I will always proudly bare the scars that the entire experience has left behind.

"Without Davey"
I pick up the pieces.
I stand up on my own.
I gather up my courage.
I go it alone.
